Add and Finish Your Daily Tasks
A great way to remain effective is to write down all the tasks that have been bugging you into the Todoist app so you can concentrate on all the tasks right in front of you.
To add a new task, press the + icon on the app, enter the task name, and select “add task”. Choosing to add tasks to the app daily can help you remain on top of things.
What’s great about Todoist is that it is functional and can work with several devices. You can remain in charge and work on your tasks, regardless of the device in front of you.
While going through your daily activities, you can review your daily tasks using the Today view on the top left corner. Once a task is completed, you can mark them by selecting the circle on the left of the task item. If you are using a mobile device, simply swipe the task from left to right to mark it as completed.
Keeping Track of Tasks Using Upcoming, Today, and Inbox Views
It can become quite difficult to remain organized when you add more tasks to your schedule, which is why Todoist offers a way to organize your tasks into three important views at the top left corner of the screen: Upcoming, Inbox, and Today.
This view allows you to see all the tasks available in the next couple of weeks, months, or even years. This view gives you a daily breakdown of each upcoming task. You can also drag and drop tasks into the incoming view as you desire.
The Inbox view is the default location for all new tasks. It is a catch-all for recently added tasks that are not yet categorized.
To get better results with Todoist, write down a task quickly by simply adding it to the inbox view. You can come back later to either reorganize it into a project or complete it at that moment.
This view is perfect for when you don’t know what task is next on the list. The Today view shows all the tasks that have been scheduled for that day across all projects.
Set Recurring Task Due Dates and Due Dates for All the Tasks on Your To Do List
Instead of simply attempting to complete too many tasks in one day, you can add future due dates for your tasks, allowing you to have enough time to create quality work and meet important deadlines.
To give a task a deadline, you can enter the dates into the task field, and you can do so using natural language. What this means is, if your task is due on June 16th, you could simply enter “June 16th”. Also, if that day happens to be on a Monday, you could enter “next Monday” into the due date field.
Recurring Due Dates
You can also set due dates for recurring tasks by typing a date into the task field just as you normally would for non recurring tasks.
For example, you can enter “every three days starting from next Monday,” “every Friday,” “every day,” and more.
When you complete a specific task, its due date is automatically reset based on your specifications, so you won’t miss a thing.
Altering Due Dates
Plans are not set in stone and can change. Thankfully, Todoist gives you the option to change your due dates or update them.
For example, if you are in the middle of a crunch and need to reschedule a task, you could simply right-click on the task and select “next week” or “tomorrow” shortcuts at the top of the menu. For smartphones, swipe from right to left to access this menu.
One of the most effective ways to put off a task is by navigating to the task scheduler and selecting tomorrow. If a task needs rescheduling to a particular date, you can do so by opening the scheduler and tapping or clicking on the specific due date on the calendar. Click the right arrow to view more dates.
You can also reschedule the due date of a task by editing it and adding the new date onto the task field.
Keep in mind that once the overdue tasks begin to pile up, it could cause you to snowball. You will endlessly postpone the tasks by a week or a day until all you have is multiple projects that are overdue.
The most effective way to prevent this is to click the reschedule label at the top right of the Upcoming or Today view.
You can also choose multiple tasks to reschedule at the same time. To do so, select the tasks, click the “Schedule” label, and select a date most suitable for you.
